7 Days Left - A Million Dollars

Once upon a time in grade seven English, I received an assignment back from my teacher, dear Miss Brown.  Marked on it in thick red pen was the bald statement that I should be a writer.  If I became a writer, she said, I could make a million dollars.

That was a lot back then.

At the time, I was determined to be a teacher.  I planned to write during vacations, because even then writing was ingrained in my DNA, but to actually be a writer seemed impossible.

Miss Brown did everything she could to encourage me despite my state of disbelief, and let me write stories instead of doing class assignments for that whole year.  And now, in only seven days, my first novel, Shades of Death, will be published through Sapere Books.

Perhaps it is unlikely to make a million dollars...but it certainly makes me feel like a million dollars.
