Soul vs Body

'You do not have a soul.  You are a soul.  You have a body.'

I thought that this was a quotation from C.S. Lewis, but just discovered today that he never said it (which may inspire an entire entry on mis-attributed quotations).  Apparently it's also not theologically sound, but that's also a bigger issue than I can deal with today.

What I wanted to talk about was aging.  The older I get, the more aware I am that soul and body are not in sync.  My soul is young, curious, up for adventure.  My body just wants to curl up on the sofa and sleep eighteen hours per day.  Soul wants to explore new worlds; Body wants to creak and groan its way slowly through the same routine every day.

And don't even get me started on Emotions.  Lately they are not under the control of either Soul or Body, but taking on a life of their own.

Poor Soul.  It has a fight on its hands.
